Root canals save teeth from needing to be pulled out (extracted), relieve pain and allow you to eat normally again.
A root canal treats infection or damage to the soft part inside a tooth that contains nerves and blood vessels. Decay, cracks or trauma can cause the soft part to become inflamed or infected. This can lead to pain and sensitivity, making it difficult to chew.
During the procedure, the infected part is removed, the space cleaned and sealed to prevent further infection.
In general, the medical practitioners at A7 Health, accept most of the well known medical aids (and not the medical insurance). Different rules apply for different medical aids and different practitioners (for example, the GPs take most medical aid plans on Discovery, but are not yet on the Smart Plan or Key Care Networks, whereas the Dentists accept both Smart Plan and Key Care). For the avoidance of doubt, please call us in advance of your appointment and enquire about your specific medical aid and medical aid plan.
