Fever is a common symptom of various illnesses, indicating that your body is fighting off an infection. It could be an infection in the ears, lungs, skin, throat, bladder, or kidney; or heat exhaustion, sunburn; COVID-19. A very high fever, could be dangerous and it is important to seek medical attention.

• Younger than 3 months old and has a rectal temperature of 38 C or higher
• Between 3 and 6 months old and has a rectal temperature higher than 38.9 C or has a lower temperature but seems unusually irritable, sluggish or uncomfortable
• Between 7 and 24 months old and has a rectal temperature higher than 38.9 C that lasts longer than one day but shows no other symptoms or has other signs and symptoms, such as a runny nose, cough or diarrhea
• Between 3 years and teenager and has an oral temperature of 38.9 C or higher, or for two or more days
• Adult that has an oral temperature of 39.4 C or higher

At A7 Health, the doctor will do an assessment to diagnose the underlying cause and recommend an appropriate course of treatment. Additional tests may be recommended. Treatment may include a prescription for antibiotics to fight the infection and other medication to help alleviate your symptoms.
